About Chisinau, Moldova and TUM

Republic of Moldova  is found between  Romania to the west and the Ukraine to the east. Up until World War II, it (Basarabia) was a part of Romania, then was part of the Soviet Union until 1991. Moldova has a growing wine-tourism industry and those who know wines know that some of the best in Europe come from Moldova. The wine cellars of Milestii Mici and Cricova are the largest and most famous in the world.  In Moldavian villages the old traditions are preserved, and hospitality with tasty dishes and selected wines is unforgettable. The best places of Moldova are Orheiul Vechi,  Tipova Monastery, Cave monastery at Saharna, Fortress of Soroca, Taul Park and Pommer Manor, Cricova Winery etc.

 

Chișinău (/ˌkɪʃɪˈnaʊ/; romanian:[kiʃiˈnəw] is the capital and largest city of Moldova. Founded in 1436 as a monastery village, the city was part of the Principality of Moldavia. Chișinău’s growth plan was developed in the 19th century.  Chișinău also displays a tremendous number of orthodox churches and 19th century buildings around the city such as Ciuflea Monastery or the Transfiguration Church. Much of the city is made from limestone dug from Cricova.  Chisinau has about 15 theaters, more than 30 museums and art galleries, over 50 clubs and cultural palaces, cinemas, recreation and sport buildings.

Technical University of Moldova (TUM) was founded in 1964 and today comprises 9 faculties  with a 730 profesors  and 9520 students. In 2005, UTM adhered to the Bologna process and pursues its three-cycle studies: License-Master-Doctorate. Technical University of Moldova prepares engineers for the national economy branches: Telecommunications, Electrical and Power Engineering, Food, Transportation, Light Industry, Machinery Construction, Civil Engineering, Urbanism and Architecture, Informatics and Microelectronics. UTM has collaboration agreements with about 75 universities in Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, France, Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, Ukraine, the USA, Portugal, Spain, Russia, etc.
